Woolworths supermarket issues urgent hot cross bun recall in NSW store amid metal contamination fears

Woolworths supermarket is conducting an urgent recall of two hot cross bun

Woolworths supermarket is conducting an urgent recall of two hot cross bun products amid fears they’ve been contaminated with metal shavings.

Food Standards Australia advises that the supermarket giant has pulled its Woolworths 6pk Fruit Hot Cross Buns and Woolworths 9pk Fruit Hot Cross Mini Buns from shelves.

The products have been available for sale at Woolworths Dural in NSW only and have a best before date of April 5, 2023.

Authorities warn consuming the recalled hot cross buns may cause illness or inury.

"The recall is due to the presence of foreign matter (metal)," Food Standards Australia said.

"Food products containing metal may cause illness/injury if consumed."

Woolworths shoppers who have purchased the recalled buns have been advised to take the following steps.

"Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund."
