Fowlerville Community Schools votes to replace food, nutrition equipment

FOWLERVILLE — The Fowlerville Community Schools Board of Education voted last

FOWLERVILLE — The Fowlerville Community Schools Board of Education voted last week to purchase a considerable amount of food and nutrition equipment with surplus funds.

"The government doesn't like it when you don't spend your money," said Board Treasurer John Belcher. "We had too big of a balance, so we're gonna update the junior high for the first time since it's been built and get some new checkout stations there."

"This is kind of a requirement due to us having excess funds in our account," added Superintendent Matt Stuard.

The proposal is to purchase new equipment at Natalie Kreeger Elementary School, Fowlerville Junior High and Fowlerville High School for a total of $281,153.61 from HPS, a group purchasing organization based in Middleville. The cost includes installation.

Equipment purchases include open display merchandisers, utility serving counters, drop-in hot and cold food well units, stationary sneeze guards, cash register stands, hot food serving counters and tables, cold food serving counters, flatware dispensers and more.
