But chances are, if you're like most folks, there's one room you've been avoiding organizing: the place where you (theoretically, at least) house your vehicles. While garages are great for storing everything from gardening gear to tools to sports equipment, they often start to look like the junk draw of the home. That's because they're where we dump anything that doesn't have a designated place (or anything that's too big to fit in the linen closet!). But it's easier than you might think to keep things in order. You just need a few great garage organization ideas to get you started. No matter how messy your space is, these tips and tricks will help you turn it from dim and dismal into your very own "Garage Mahal!"

If you don't have a slat wall, or just want to get those cumbersome bikes even further off the floor, install bike hooks in your garage ceiling. Just be sure to find the studs first, so the ceiling will be able to handle the weight of the bikes.

There's a lot of love out there for pegboards and it's no wonder why. They're relatively inexpensive, easy to install and versatile, too, thanks to the wide range of hooks, bins and other accessories that are available to use with them. Plus, pegboards use vertical space, and that's always a good thing in a garage.

No muss, no fuss, and reasonably priced to boot, this storage rack will hold an array of implements like rakes and shovels. There are hooks on the side for smaller garden tools, too.

Instead of hanging on to gallon-sized containers of paint just to save the little bit left in them, try keeping the remnants in labeled Mason jars. Not only is it a space saver, but the jars look plenty cute and cheery lined up in the garage!
